last night i watched flipped. i read the book a few months ago. actually, i only read 2/3 of the book because: i suddenly wanted another kind of book to read, i became busy until i forgot to finish it and i didn't really like the ebook i downloaded. but as what i've read so far, the book's good but the movie's better. i may be biased to say that thinking i haven't finished the book yet, but i just can't help but love the characters and the setting of the movie. it was far from what i've imagined while i was reading the book.. it was old and countryside-ish. they also did a great job sticking close to the book. plus, both Madeline Carroll and Callan McAuliffe were perfect to play the roles of Juli Baker and Bryce Loski, repectively.
some quotes from the movie and from the book by Wendelin Van Draanen:
''A painting is more that the sum of the parts,'' he would tell me, and then go on to explain how the cow itself is just a cow, and the meadow by itself is just grass and flowers, and the sun peeking through the trees is just a beam of light, but put them all together and you've got magic.''
''To be held above the earth and be brushed by the wind,'' she said, ''it's like your heart has been kissed by beauty.''
''The room fell quiet. And as i read down the list of over one hundred and fifty-grade boys, I realized that to me, there had only been one boy.''
''Next time you're faced with a choice, do the right thing. It hurts everyone less in the long run.''
''One's character is set at an early age, son. The choices you make now will affect you for the rest of your life. I hate to see you swim out so far you can't swim back.'' -Chet Duncan
''I'd never been embarrassed by where we lived before. I also never really thought about money. I knew we weren't rich, but I didn't feel like we were missing anything. That is, until Bryce Loski called our home a complete mess.'' -Juli Baker
''The way she ignore me was a constant reminder that I've been a jerk.'' -Bryce Loski
''I had flipped. Completely.'' -Bryce Loski
